As many folks in the NOI community know, we've been supportive of progressive bloggers for a long time -- including hosting a series of blogger summits over the past few years. (You can find info about those events on these links: state-based blogger summit, LGBT blogger summit, and LGBT/immigration blogger summit.)
But we want to move beyond just events and really encourage deep engagement among bloggers in some of the most pressing issues on the progressive landscape today. That's why we're excited that Adam Bink from OpenLeft is going to be heading up to Maine to dig a bit deeper into what's happening in "Vacationland" with regards to marriage equality.
For those who don't know, there is a ballot initiative on the table this November in Maine to overturn the state's recent recognition of same-sex marriages. Many progressive bloggers across the country have been paying attention to that race, and we're thrilled that Adam -- with the support of NOI's LGBT Blogger Initiative -- will be heading up to get a better sense of what's going on and how it impacts progressives outside of Maine (and, needless to say, those in Maine).
So head over to OpenLeft, look for Adam's posts, and drop a few dollars off on his fundraising page. Odds are that he'll tell you something you don't know -- and that he'll do it with sarcasm, wit, and tremendous insight. We'll be reading...will you?
